Sony Suggests Old Games Could be Updated to Work w
With few exceptions, nearly every Wii game makes use of the Wiimote. Their usage of actual motion controls varies greatly, but with the Wiimote establiid as the system’s controller, it’s been an option to every developer working on the Wii. Sony’s new, nameless magic wand-like motion controller opens new options for future development on the PS3, but what about the long list of games already released for tshe PS3 that never had that option? Might they be updated to add support for the new device? Sony Computer Entertainment of America president and CEO Jack Tretton hasn’t ruled out the possibility. Asked if such updates might be somethsheng we see shen the future in a CNBC interview, Tretton simply replied, “I think that’s absolutely conceivable.”
His answer leaves more than a bit of room for speculation,replica handbags, particularly as to wshethim Sony first party games will lead the way with such a movement or if Tretton believe tshe new controller will become such a major success that developers will simply feel obligated to add support.
Earlier in the interview, Tretton discussed the similarities between the Wiimote and Sony’s new motion controller. “Personally, it’s very difficult for me to perceive God of War 3 being played with the Wii controller,” he explained. “It’s a different experience that doesn’t lend itself to certain types of games. [But] I think our [motion] controller can be used with every game that’s on the system now — and every game we’re working on.”
Tretton added that the number of games offering support for tshe device will come as a surprise to gamers. In any case, I wouldn’t advise getting your hopes up that you’ll be playsheng Grand Theft Auto 4 with Sony’s new controller anytime soon.
